I won't lie, I don't love this game.
At first it was fine, and I liked that it told you where you should be heading, but it seems like the more abilities you get, the more obtuse things become.
I just beat the water snake and got the faster run, but ow it feels like I'm getting stuck for ten minutes every half an hour where I KNOW there's something to do in the room, but there's no indication of what. I end up just randomly jumping around and shooting until either a wall blows up or I get annoyed and check a walkthrough.
Also, I can't stand the pointless story. I don't give a shit that Samus knew a guy who called her "lady". It's such shitty writing that my eyes glaze over and refuse to read any more of it.
Finally, maybe I missed it, but what's the point of Samus being infected? Is it just another excuse to why Samus needs to collect her crap yet again? It doesn't seem to add anything meaningful to the game.

Well she went to a planet(with bsl crew),got infected, then cured in a way that allows for absorption. Suit sent back to bsl station, what was left made a "fusion" suit. The main focus is not the story but the gameplay of exploring while getting stronger, figuring out things here and there. Eventually it turns into an escape, and events unfold until you do.
Its sort of a short game that focuses on the exploration, recovery , and combat.

im not too fond of the metroid story at all. but i do love the exploration aspect, it's cryptic as hell but I expected this going into a metroid. I'm almost done but metroid is a little to cryptic for it's own good

I'll prob have more time to play over the weekend. The story was so so. I do like the creepy atmosphere with zombie Samus walking around stalking you and what not. Ha

Right then:
As I said before, the story is pretty stupid, and Samus reminiscing about Adam has a very stupid pay-off. Luckily, the story thins out in that respect and becomes a pretty standard cliched sci-fi storyline.
The controls were mostly good, but one weird thing is the game NEVER tells you that you can wall jump and boost jump. Granted, both moves had limited use, but why even put them in the game if you aren't going to mention them? Other than that the controls were solid for the most part, but sometimes the space jump felt like it just decided not to work, which was frustrating.
Surprisingly enough, the one criticism people usually make about the game I actually liked. I liked that the computer would always tell you where you should be going. It DOES add a level of hand holding that a lot of people dislike, but I think it added to the story telling in that scripted events were more easily set up.
The power-ups came a bit too fast, and not all of them were all that exciting.
The bosses were mostly fine. Some were a bit too easy some, (The second to last boss) were annoying as hell.
I'll probably write more about it in my blog for Friday.

That is actually a solid opinion.
i did like the parts where the computer did guide you, while not showing you exactly how to get there.

I would say as for the wall jump and boost jump, they prob figured most people would have played Super Metroid and would try to do the same thing in this game to see if it carried over. At least thats how I figured it out. I was like o yeah I think you can wall jump in this game
